Yorkshire Amateur League Division 1 – Saturday 19th January 2019

Full-time: Collingham Juniors FC 2 – 3 Idle FC

Goals: J. Strudwick (x2), L. Chandler

MOTM: J. Strudwick

I’ll try to keep this report as brief as possible since this was probably the most painful 90 minutes of football for Idle FC since inception in 2014. Probably even worse than the 5-0 semi-final drubbing be Hightown Jets…

The key points are as follows:

  • Idle were poor in the first half, too slow and ponderous on the ball
  • Jack Strudwick scored a penalty
  • Idle conceded a goal from a low cross into the 6-yard box
  • Half-time
  • Idle continued the poor display in the second half
  • Continued slack passing, slow movement and poor decisions
  • A Jamie Allen through-ball (awful decision making!) assisted the Collingham forward who lobbed Marcus Strudwick
  • Idle go 2-1 down
  • Idle try to push for an equaliser
  • J. Strudwick scored direct from a corner
  • 2-2
  • Collingham were under siege for large parts of the second half
  • Tom Holmes crossed from the right, Tom Simonett flicked on, Luke Chandler slotted home in the 89th minute
  • 2-3
  • M. Strudwick’s head fell clean off
  • The referee came over to book hI’m
  • He spelt his surname out using children’s phonetic alphabet (real mature that…)
  • Red card for M. Strudwick
  • Leaving the lads in the proverbial sh*t for the final 5 minutes of stoppage time
  • Adam Medley dons the gloves
  • Idle defend a long throw-in and a corner to see out the game
  • Full-time: Collingham Juniors FC 2-3 Idle FC

Now that’s out of the way we move onto next week against Woodkirk Valley!
